  • Mr. Stéphane Bédard President & Chief Executive Officer

    Stéphane has more than 20 years of experience in the creation and management of high-tech companies. Former COO of Victhom Human Bionics Inc. (TSX:VHB), a medical device company that he founded in 1998, Mr. Bédard is recognized within the orthotic and prosthetic community as the inventor of the Power Knee™, the first motorized leg prosthesis for above-knee (AK) amputees. The Power Knee™ is considered as the new generation of AK prosthesis and dramatically changed the way to design, to fit and to use a leg prosthesis. Mr. Bédard initiated his second high-tech business venture with the foundation of B-Temia Inc, to revolutionize the world of human mobility.

    Highlights of Stéphane’s resume are: Founder of Victhom Human Bionics Inc.; Inventor of the Power Knee™, the first motorized bionic leg prosthesis for AK amputees; Chief Operating Officer of Victhom Human Bionics Inc.; 25 years of experience as a senior manager (Maxivox Inc. and Victhom Inc.); Electrical Engineer, Masters in Mechanical Engineering and Doctorate studies in Biomechatronics; Author or co-author of approximately 100 multi-country patents in the field of biomechatronics; strong scientific background in the field of robotics, automation and biomechatronics; principal investigator of numerous clinical trials for Class II medical devices; speaker at numerous international conferences and symposiums.

  • Mr. Christian Bégin Chief Financial Officer

    Chartered Accountant with almost 30 years of experience in finance, accounting and administration, Christian is an analytic and result-oriented executive. Over the last 20 years, he has acted as a Vice President Finance and as a Chief Financial Officer for four companies in the fast-changing technology and manufacturing sectors. Very involved at the strategic level of various companies, he actively participated in many financing and business acquisition processes.

  • Mr. David Quitman Chief Operating Officer

    With the solid experience he gained over the last decade in various manufacturing industries, including the medical device industry, David is recognized for his ability to balance regulatory requirements with the challenges of a start-up in the process of becoming a well-established company.

    As the Chief Operating Officer of B-Temia, he oversees the optimization of the managing processes leading the company’s maturity based on the corporate strategy.

    After graduating in Engineering Physics (Laval University), he joined Stryker Medical as a Quality Engineer and ensured a smooth transfer of the manufacturing operations to another plant abroad. He developed group synergy within ABB analytic division by shifting the mindset from “one department carrying the weight of the impact of Cost-of-Poor-Quality on all operational activities” to “quality is everyone’s business”; and by helping setting up multi-disciplinary groups for each industrial sector thus ramping up time to market, cost optimization. At TSO3, back in medical device industry, David participated to redesigning the business processes in order to enhance the efficacy of operational related processes.

    David’s leadership style is about leading through people; he is convinced that a great team generates great results i.e. happy stakeholders including clients, partners, and shareholders.

  • Mr. Nathaniel Zoso Chief Technology Officer

    Nathaniel has been developing innovative health technologies for the past 11 years. He currently manages the technological and scientific vision of B-Temia. As Chief Technology Officer, he leads the development of the dermoskeletic technology serving human mobility and he puts in place all scientific and technological tools necessary to develop B-Temia’s executive vision further. His focuses are to improve the performance of B-Temia’s products and to establish B-Temia’s roadmap of products and technologies.

    Nathaniel started his career developing the algorithms for an automatic titration and weaning of oxygen therapy device, before joining B-Temia in 2011. Nathaniel’s innovative spark and work ethic proved vital to the company’s success, and as such, his role evolved to encompass technology integration, scientific exploration and, eventually to leading B-Temia’s innovation.

    Nathaniel is recognized for his ability to always find another point of view to creatively achieve his goals while integrating clinical, technological, and corporate realities. He is eager to build the bridge to the evolution of B-Temia with emerging human-health technologies and welcomes connecting with broad thinkers inside and outside the industry.

    Nathaniel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering (control and servo specialization) from Université Laval and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (robotics specialization). He was awarded the Canada Millennium Scholarship and the C.D. Howe memorial foundation scholarship. He is now member of the OIQ (Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec).

  • Mr. Alexander Jokic Vice President Regulatory Affairs

    As Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, Alexander manages and executes corporate strategies and action plans related to regulatory affairs to enable B-Temia’s new innovative and breakthrough technologies to penetrate the American, Canadian and European markets. He has built his experience in the medical devices industry, working with private and public companies of all types and sizes from all over the world, overseeing regulatory, operational compliance, clinical affairs and quality assurance strategies.

    Over the last decade, he specialized in regulatory affairs and in the development of medical products while working in a pragmatic way with multidisciplinary teams located in different countries to achieve the expected results. Throughout those years, he worked with various applications and all classes of products. He also increased business value by getting multiple market clearances in implantable and custom-made devices with new disruptive technology, expanded product applications, and leaned many operational processes.

    Alexandre holds a B.A. in Law, Marketing and Industrial relations (Laval University). He earned Lean Six Sigma certification, Lead Auditor ISO certification, corporate leadership program, and project management training held in various countries.

  • Mr. Denis Gélinas Administrative Director

    Seasoned accountant with 30 years of experience in various managerial positions, Denis acts as the Administrative Director at B-Temia.

    Thorough and multi-skilled, he manages the daily operational activities and the accounting of the company. As such, he ensures that the manufacturing and the shipping processes run smoothly, and that all the accounting tasks are properly accomplished. He also takes charge of special projects, like the implementation of new systems.

  • Mr. Christian Robillard Director Intellectual Property

    As Director Intellectual Property, Christian manages B-Temia’s patent and industrial design portfolio and obtained patent and industrial design protection for KEEOGO™. He is an electrical engineer and a registered patent agent in Canada and the United-States with over 19 years of experience in intellectual property combined with 5 years of experience in public and private companies specialized in Internet technologies and systems engineering. He drafted and obtained more than 100 patents and industrial designs in biomechatronics and medical devices, among which the Power Knee™, the first motorized bionic leg prosthesis for above-knee amputees, for Victhom Human Bionics Inc., and he managed their patent and industrial design portfolio.

    Mr. Robillard was a guest speaker for the “Introduction to Intellectual Property” Master of Law program at University of Montreal for 5 years, and he gave presentations and provided training in intellectual property at University of Sherbrooke and Développement économique, innovation et exportation Québec. He holds Bachelors’ degree in Electrical Engineering and in Applied Mathematics, a Master’s degree in Computer Science and a Minor in law and further graduate studies in innovation management.

    He is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec and the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada where he sits on the Information, Communication & Technology Committee as well as on the Patent Agent Examination Board.
